The Droplet CD5.0 Reference CD Player.
" A completely no compromise design"
This is a "No
Compromise" reference CD player and is the absolute best
that Consonance can do.
This is a truly awesome
player. The build quality is outstanding and if it had a European
makers name on it would cost 4 times as much, at least.
The sound quality is just stunning at anything like this price
with a rich and lush midrange and a natural musicality across
the entire audio spectrum. All who have heard it are captivated.
This is the bargain CD player of all time.
I received this from the first person to receive his CD5.
Hi Greg
Now that the Droplet CD player has about 120 hours "on the
clock" I'd like to offer these observations:
This is a special piece of equipment, I am delighted with it.
Visitors here are absolutely stunned by the appearance, finish
and material quality, and so am I! It is much more impressive
in the flesh than any photograph can convey. An electronic musical
instrument of rare class.
As for the quality of sound which is its reason for being, it
sounds better than it looks. The musical presentation is just
that, there are no "hi-fi artefacts" in evidence here.
If I were to say natural, smooth, refined, I would not say enough.
This player has marvelous rhythm, dynamics, and wonderful image
focus and great depth. The sense of being in the room with the
musicians is palpable, there is a three-dimensionality to every
sound in the stage, you can almost touch it. And the bass is sublime.
This is so far an advance on my previous CD player, it is almost
beyond belief. And that player was an English model of immense
reputation which 5 years ago sold for more than this player does.
There is indeed plenty of life in the ubiquitous red book CD if
the player is up to the task. The Consonance Droplet 5.0 is just
such a player.
If people can get past the made in China tag, they will find themselves
with something very special that will give them immense enjoyment
for many years to come. I can remember when the Japanese had to
get past the "made in Japan" tag, and now people undestand
about their quality. It's time the Chinese, at least from Opera
Audio, got the same.
In the meantime, we have a rare bargain.
Best regards
Chris Grieves
