Cyber 100 15th anniversary special edition !

After many successful years of strong sales with the incredible M100 range, the designers decided to design something special for the companies 15 year anniversary, using all the lessons learnt over the years. So in 2008, Opera audio, using feedback from their satisfied M100 users, and input from most of their long time distributors, worked together to develop a 15th anniversary amplifier that would epitomise the special concept of what a push-pull pentode integrated amp should sound like.
This pursuit resulted in the Cyber100-15 th Anniversary Edition, which has a musical purity and the most natural reproduction of sound an affordable integrated amp can possibly achieve.
This amp has a superb and enchanting midrange, with the harmonic balance that Opera Audio has always strived for, and possesses an extraordinarily smooth balance throughout the spectrum, providing a stronger impression of live music. The exterior of the previous Cyber 100 signature has been modified with an aluminium top cage, walnut wood deck and a 15th anniversary logo.
Self-biasing KT88/ 6550 works in Class A, UL operation, with a well designed NOS 5687 drive stage, and a time-proven rectifier circuit consisting of the 5AR4 EH rectifier tubes and Philips electrolytic capacitors (for audio). Every component chosen has been carefully selected for superior audio clarity. This even applies for the German made power switch. After all, KT88/6550s are not triodes, but if properly applied in a circuit with 35 push-pull watt output, they can exhibit a surprisingly linearity, resulting in a musical performance approaching that of the real thing - something you'd expect from triode units running in single-ended mode, but with superior power, dynamics and authority.

The amplifier comes as standard with KT88 valves. I started ordering them with KT120 as the sound was even better. But after trying the KT150 valves, these were definitely superior again. unfortunately, these valves are more expensive and at my low margins, Icannot afford to include them, so the increase in price is what they cost me. it is well worth it and all the amplifiers I order are with kT150, but I keep a set of kT120 in case anybody opts for them.

Greg Osborn Comments.

I was intrigued to see if anything could sound better than the M100+. This amp had always been the mainstay of my systems and hadsold me 100s of pairs of speakers. Most accompanied by the amp as well. However my hopes have been realised. The 15th Anniversary model has all the strengths of the M100 range, but even better clarity, soundstage and definition. The design philosophy behind this amp is the same it's big brother, the more powerful Cyber 880i.
